You can make a difference
and help improve management
of our wild horses and burros

We need your help to improve the management of western rangelands in order to ensure that wild horse and burro populations reach a sustainable level in the years to come. This will allow wild horse and burro populations to live healthier lives, and allow habitats to be restored and native wildlife the ability survive. However, this future is not possible without immediate action.

Contact the BLM

Urge the BLM to manage horse and burro populations as part of a multiple-use mandate alongside cattle and native wildlife.

Call 866-4MUSTANGS

(866-468-7826) or email wildhorse@blm.gov to contact a representative from the BLM's Wild Horse and Burro Program

Adopt

The BLM's Adoption Program allows horses and burros from resource-depleted Herd Management Areas to be placed into stable private care situations.

Visit the agency's facilities page to learn how to adopt a horse or burro.

Volunteer

The BLM's Wild Horse and Burro program is always looking for volunteers to help with activities like performing compliance checks on adopted horses and getting the word out about adoption events.

Contact a BLM office near you to learn more about volunteer opportunities.
